RunCheck

Privacy policy

Last updated October 24, 2026

What RunCheck (this website and the RunCheck desktop app) collects, why, and what you can do about it. In short: only what's needed to check games against your PC; no ads, no selling data, no third-party trackers.

Who we are

RunCheck is run by the owner of this website, who is responsible for the data described here.

If you just browse

You don't need an account. Without one:

  • Your language, theme and the PC you enter are kept in cookies in your own browser (rc_lang, rc_theme, rc_pc), not on our server.
  • A scan started from the My PC page (with the script or the app) is held in memory for at most 10 minutes, only to show you the result.
  • Hardware model names we don't recognize yet are saved, without any link to you, so they can be added to the catalog.
  • Page views are counted per game per day as plain numbers, without addresses or identifiers.

If you create an account

We store:

  • Your name and email address, and your password only as a scrypt hash, which can't be turned back into the password.
  • Sign-in sessions: a cookie (rc_session) valid for 30 days. Password reset links expire after an hour.
  • The computers you save: their names and hardware specifications.
  • Actions in the admin panel are logged (who did what). This concerns staff, not regular use.

If you use the desktop app

The app reads your hardware and installed games on your PC. It sends:

  • To find your games in the catalog: the names of installed games and programs and your PC's specifications, without any account details. Of these, only the names and store ids of games the catalog doesn't have yet are kept, without anything that tells who sent them, so the games can be added.
  • When you connect an account: the PC's full hardware report and a device ID derived from it (a hash that tells your PCs apart within your account).
  • With FPS measuring on and an account connected, each play session: the game, the PC with its processor and graphics card, start time, duration, FPS figures and graph, GPU and CPU load, resolution and app version.
  • Measuring is off until you turn it on and can be turned off at any time. The app doesn't read what's on your screen, your files or your keystrokes: only how often games draw frames and how busy the hardware is.
  • The app keeps its settings and your sessions in its own folder on your PC.

What it's used for

To check games against your PC, to show you your sessions and advice, and to improve the catalog. Other users only ever see figures combined from at least three players with the same or a similar graphics card (medians), never your name, email, PC or individual sessions. We don't show ads, don't sell or rent data, and don't use third-party analytics or tracking.

Who else is involved

Some services necessarily see part of the traffic:

  • Game images load from Steam, GOG and Epic Games servers, which, like any site you load images from, see your IP address.
  • Password reset emails are sent through an email delivery service.
  • Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, time, page requested) for security and operations.

How long we keep it

Account data and measurements are kept while your account exists and are deleted with it. Expired sign-in sessions and reset links are deleted automatically. Unrecognized hardware names and page view counts aren't personal data and are kept.

Your rights

At any time you can:

  • See and correct your data on your account page, and delete computers you saved.
  • Unlink the app from your account (account page → Linked apps) and turn off FPS measuring in the app.
  • Delete your account with everything tied to it (account page → Delete account).
  • Ask for a copy of your data, or about anything this page doesn't cover, at the address above.
  • Complain to Georgia's Personal Data Protection Service (personaldata.ge).

Changes

If what we collect changes, this page and its date are updated; significant changes are announced on the website and in the app.
